About the Conference

The Green Jobs Career Fair & Conference is a premier event dedicated to sustainability, green career opportunities, and innovative solutions to environmental challenges. Organized by the Engineering Students Association (ESA) in collaboration with the Office of Career Services, this initiative aligns with the Chancellor’s Big 5 Agenda and aims to localize discussions from COP 29 into grassroots efforts that drive real impact.

This year’s conference will feature expert workshops, panel discussions, exhibitions, and project presentations focused on advancing sustainability. As a closing activity, we will host a tree-planting session along Ngong Road to contribute to reforestation efforts following the construction of the Nairobi Expressway.

About the Conference

Chancellor's Agenda

Professor Patrick Verkooijen is the current Chancellor of the University of Nairobi. He is the CEO of the Global Center on Adaptation, an international organization that works on climate change. The University of Nairobi's (UoN) Chancellor's agenda, known as the "Big 5," is a five-point plan to transform the university into a leader in education, technology, and entrepreneurship.

Vice Chancellor

Professor Margaret Hutchinson is a highly respected academic and administrator who serves as the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Nairobi. She is the first woman to hold this position, and she has made history as a trailblazer in higher education in Kenya.

Deputy Vice Chancellor - Academics

Professor Ayub Gitau is a distinguished academic and leader who serves as the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic Affairs) at the University of Nairobi. With over 30 years of experience in agricultural engineering, he has made significant contributions to the field.

About ESA

The Engineering Students Association (ESA) fosters collaboration, innovation, and professional development.

Chairperson

Rahma Anuro is the chair of the Engineering Students' Association (ESA). She is a visionary leader who is committed to empowering engineering students and shaping the future of the industry. Rahma is passionate about promoting innovation and collaboration among students, and she is dedicated to providing them with the resources and opportunities they need to succeed.

Vice Chair

Caleb Oira is a dynamic and dedicated leader serving as the vice chair of the Engineering Students Association. He takes pride in being part of the team that organized the highly successful Green Conference. He believes his unique blend of energy and precision will be instrumental in elevating the ESA into a powerhouse for the benefit of all engineering students at the University of Nairobi.

Secretary General

Njuguna Andrew Kiongo is an engineering student passionate about bringing young minds together to explore practical solutions for a greener future. Through his work with the Engineering Students Association (ESA), he helps create spaces like The Green Jobs Career Fair and Conference, where students can connect with industry leaders, share ideas, and discover opportunities in the growing green economy. Njuguna believes in empowering his fellow students to see themselves as future innovators and decision-makers, ready to make a real impact in building a sustainable world.
